trivial pursuits.

firstly, today is mike's birthday so - HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE!

i am dying dying dying to give him his present. it's a four parter. and all the parts make a whole. it's not a puzzle, i promise. ha! i'd tell you what it is but then if he reads this that would ruin the surprise and i already told him i got him a mini-cake & that was supposed to be a surprise too. sometimes i am not good at surprises. hee.

last night trivial hirsute made a triumphant return to the top spot & secured the finest bottle of champagne at tonic (not saying much) as well as some cash moneeeeeeey. huzzah! also, i got to tell the jackasses that came over to our table before the game started and tried to steal our chairs, and sort of insulted us/taunted us that they were going to win, that they could suck it...yeah, that's right boys! okay, so i didn't really tell them to suck it but they could tell that's what i meant by my eeeeeeyes. i have very expressive eyes, you know. heh.

highlights included:

- me blurting out the answer to a question before it was even asked (a follow up to the which band was the first to have a video on mtv question - who was the second? that would be one miss PAT BENATAR. oh yes.)

- trammell & i performing an interpretive dance

- two shot questions correct, thanks to sean

- tootsie!

- the new announcer dude befriending us & secretly rooting for our victory (in my opinion)

after trivs everyone was going to head to bottom of the hill to see dirty projectors and i respectfully declined b/c i was planning on heading home and going to bed early so that i could get up and go swimming. however, after stopping to get a slice of pizza on my way home, i was ambushed & kidnapped by sean & ron who made me, that's right MADE me, go to the show. whaaaaa?!? unfortunately, once we got there we realized that it was sold out (d'oh!) so we went to the 500 club instead. jukebox domination ensued. fanny was also trying to get into the show but couldn't, so she came & met us at the bar for a drink & then we all went home. good times.

needless to say, i did not get up and swim this morning. oops!

i like to say it with a french accent "a-jaun provahcahtuuuuur". haha. can you believe this little slice of heaven is all mine? me neither!

misty, kate, and i are going to see foreigner, def leppard, and styx in two weeks over in concord & i'm trying to find tee shirts for us to wear to the show. misty & i agree that this is the one time that you can be that dude that wears the tshirt of the band that is playing. for chrissake, this is foreigner, styx, and DEF LEPPARD that we're talking about people. if you would've told my 8 year old self that i'd be seeing def leppard 20 years later i would've punched you in the face. okay, i wouldn't have actually punched anyone because at 8 i wasn't a violent child, nor am i a violent person now, but i had to get my point across. did you get it? did you?!?

this is harder than i thought.

day two and i've already slacked on posting! duhhhh.

last night i met up with mark at the hemlock for a drink before heading to gamh for a show that bagel ted was co-presenting/dj'ing. the hemmy was pretty empty so we got to chat with the bartender and found out that not only did trammell have a florida connection with her, but she also used to work at lookout! back in the day. small freakin' world. she was super nice & she just might have taken the place of, and filled the void left by, my old fave bartender who no longer works there...yippee!

misty met us for a drink at the hemmy too and very graciously allowed me to be her +1 for the show - score! plus, we got backstage wristbands which we later found to be of particular use when the line for the girls bathroom was insanely long and we got to wield the power of the neon pink wristband & utilize the facilities downstairs. double score. the backstage bathrooms at gamh are unisex, and i think we scared some poor, unsuspecting boys who didn't know that - but dude, we had to goooooooo! sorry boys. heh.

randy, elise, and rich trott (you MUST check out his jingle for willo's i heart my internet friends tee! omg hilarious.) were there too - and we proceeded to rock out to magic bullets. they were really great! i will save my review for a time when i'm better equipped to write a full synopsis though. at first i actually dug the other band, music for animals, but then ted pointed out to misty & i that the singer was wearing WHITE SHORT SHORTS. no joke. there are some things that cannot be overlooked - and those things are called white manshort shorts. their first few songs were alright but then they lost me a little bit. and the shorts were enough to send me over the edge.

after the show we all headed to the hemlock, again, and we randomly ran into jesse on the street and dragged him along with us. party party! more drinks were had and i might have tipsily texted mike a few hundred times. i also probably tipsily called him when i got home. haha. all in all a good night!

reasons why tonight was awesome.

1) i didn't pay for a single drink. and i saw some kick ass rock n' roll for freeeeeeeeeeeeee!

2) this photo:

3) i got to hang out with two of my favorite rawk starrrrs, john & blake.

4) the frames asked the subs to come up and play a song during one of their encores (they did three - !!!) and blake played an awesome new song that has never been played before ever in public (ever) and she sounded amazing!

5) "let's do something really rock" - as said in an irish accent. dear lord just kill me now.

6) having aubs with me for this magical night of rock.

7) spending time with good, honest, decent people. makes my heart warm. cheesy, but true!

8) pilfering the subs dressing room for snackens for aubs party tomorrow. haha. we're cheap.

9) the fact that all of this is connected to MY JOB. which just about makes the life i'm having right now pretty freakin' awesome in my book!

10) w00t w00t! i didn't really have a number ten but i thought my list looked dumb stopping at nine. hollaaaaaaaaa!
