it's so dang hard being FABULOUS.

this weekend consisted of me staying in on friday night (two late nights in a row during the week is enough for this girl) and perhaps watching (one of my) guilty tv pleasures, the jennifer love hewitt hour long drama/thriller, the ghost whisperer. what?!? she has great hair! and her tv hubby is adorbs. I AM NOT ASHAMED!

saturday i got up earlyish and went swimming, but it was a pretty frustrating trip because there were a ton of people there, only two lanes, and also people swimming in the "fast" lane that probably shouldn't have been. i mean, i'm all about a's for effort but you should NOT be in the fast lap lane if you are going to do elementary backstroke or sidestroke. and with that, apparently i have become a swimming beyotch. oh wells.

saturday night the first stop was bronwyn's birthday celebration at gestalt, where i found out that they do indeed have vegan sausages...too bad i ate before we went in anticipation of it not being veggie-friendly. d'oh! after a couple of rounds of brews, a triumphant display of my knowledge of yuengling, and a pool game & bet in which i lost (and would have even more miserably had mike not gotten one of my balls in by mistake and not-so-accidentally knocked another one in. cheating is acceptable when it for MY benefit, i suppose), we headed over to ryan's for a house party of epic proportions. there was dancing and singing and more dancing and dancing and "sit down! I'M DANCIN'!" until 4:00 am. ouch! i should know better than to think i can stay out that late. but it was SO MUCH FUN! ryan king throws the best parties. this, among many things, is why i lurve him.

one of my fave photos from saturday night - awww, fanny!

sunday was spent recovering from sat night until it was time for JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE!!! zomg, so awesome. totally deserves it's own blogpost but i can't even get into it now. the fashions alone deserve their own post. 'twas quite the spectacle. i bought a tee shirt. oh, and apparently my first ever celebrity sighting in CA, sean penn, was there too...'nuff said.

and now i will leave you w/ the requisite photo linkage:

willo's photos from aubs & daisy's party on weds, jess's birthday thursday, and ryan's party on saturday.
aubs's photos from weds.
my crappy cameraphone pics from j.timberlake (to tide you over)

i went back to ohio...

soooo, i'm in the great state of ohio, my homeland. it's pretty hot here but i don't mind b/c this is about all the summer i'm going to get all...summer. huh? yeah.

since arriving on weds night:

- i picked up my sweet rental car (a dodge avenger, aren't you jealous?!?) and drove 1.84 hours to marietta; this is actually one of my favorite things to do - solo road trips. where i can listen to whatever music i fancy and sing at the top of my lungs while the creepy truck drivers check me out. oh yeah, it's basically awesome.

- went to my mom's eye doctor appt with her so that i could see my old high school friend matt, who is now an optometrist, his dad greg (also an optometrist), and his stepmom mary. i love that family! and matt's little girl is sooooo cute. he jokingly said the next time i see him he'll have a litter (his wife is preggers again) and i half-think he was half-serious. wow.

- got a mani-pedi courtesy of my mom; mainly b/c she doesn't like the chipped nearly-black rock star nail look i've got going on.

- checked out my little brother's new pad, and it's HUGE. like three stories huge. and super cheap, nearly disgustingly cheap. wtf? oh wait that's right, this is ohio.

- had dinner w/ my mom, stepdad, brother, dad, and stepmom - and my cousin was our server; y'know, just the average all-american family!

- broke down and bought a mcdonald's iced coffee (per my stepdad's rave review) b/c this town doesn't have a starbucks or any other proper espresso coffee shop. srsly.

- installed firefox on my parents' computer and signed my mom up for an AIM account (geek)

- watched most of just my luck. p.s. it's not very good.

now i'm cruising the internets, blogging, and watching young frankenstein. i forgot that i kind of love teri garr! comedic genius, she is.

i think i'm going to go out to the barz with my brother tonight b/c he is now legally permitted to drink in those sorts of establishments and what's better than drinking with your baby bro and his crazy friends? tomorrow i head to columbus to meet up with my college friends who are also in town for comfest and some other friends who are in town/still live in the 'bus. w00t! i swear vacations never really feel like vacations but more so a series of tightly scheduled mini-reunions...

i have a headache, this will be short.

i'd like to write about how AWESOME my awesome weekend was and how awesomely awesome my awesome friends are (and how freakin' awesome it was to finally meet helen jane - awww yeah) and all that other awesome stuff but i have a very decidedly NOT AWESOME headache right now which is making brain function quite difficult at the moment. soooo not awesome. ugh. instead, feast your eyes on some loverly photo reenactments:

kenneth's bow tie is apparently good for licking.

the hotness.

stuff on my aubs (cleavage).

more photos of shenanagins and escapades here (willo) and here (aubs). and crazy video of us acting like jackasses. as per usual.

shows shows shows - as per usual.

last week i went to four (4) shows, so i'm getting back in the swing of things you might say. awww yeah, show ho pro tour of rocktastical goodness 2007!

tuesday night i went to the makeout room to see my little buddies HIJK (formerly hijack the disco) and it was really fantastic to see them play (i've missed the last couple of shows), but also just to get to hang out with them (and their awesome girlfriends. i swear, they have the best lady friends in rock)! i love that they are always so appreciative that their friends come to their shows and it totally makes it worth staying out late on a tuesday night - it was loverly to catch up w/ them and get the scoop on what they're going to be doing next and of course watching them tear it up on stage (and hear some new songs!) - please someone sign this band, like now. thx.

thursday night yenie got on the list for the (sold out) of montreal show at bottom of the hill and asked me if i wanted her +1 and so of course a little show ho like myself said yep yep! it was great to finally get to hang with yenie outside of work (our offices are right next to each other) and i was really looking forward to seeing of montreal because i had heard they are craaaaaazy and hilarious live - and they did not disappoint. costumes/outfits? check. awesome robotic dance moves? check. glitter? uh, yeah - check. the thing that really stood out to me was how great their harmonies sounded - and i'm a sucker for a good harmony.

i'm kind of glad i got to see the only BoTH show that they played in SF because a) BoTH is my favorite venue and 2) it's smaller and more intimate and even though the music hall is great, i like to feel like i'm in a special little bubble with the band i'm seeing. i guess it depends on the band/show, but i'm a venue and crowd snob and sometimes i don't like people. haha.

saturday night i finally got to see my internet friends rademacher - after about a year of emailing back and forth about shows and whatnot. i always have another show or event that i'm committed to when they play up here, but not this time! it was fate! FATE. anyway, they totally rocked it and were really cute/funny/enjoyable to watch. they looked like they were having the best time ever which in turn always makes me have a good time too. totally not too cool for school.

i never thought about this while listening to their recorded stuff, but the singer/guitarist, mike, kind of sounds like a cross between steven malkmus/alec from clap your hands say yeah/david byrne (and they did a cover of talking heads "road to nowhere" which i luuuurve) - he's not as whiney as alec, but also not as laid back as malkmus. the combo is really endearing though - and i'm looking forward to seeing them again in austin next month. yaaaaay!

(willo's photos from the night here.)

last night - oooooh last night - i'm going to have to write a completely separate post about that show because HOLY CRAP it was like a religious experience. i have a whole new level of appreciation for m. ward after seeing him play - honestly it was one of the best shows i've seen in my LIFE. but more on that later...
