i love sweden!
so the other night at the shout out louds/the rosebuds/the sun show, all willo & i had to do to get some free merch was say "i love sweden!!!" how awesome is that? i'm broke, so free shit is always a plus. free merch. free beer. free love. wait, scratch that last one. i ain't gettin' no lovin' lately. *pout*
but enough about me - how was the show, you may ask? well i'll tell you! it was grand. the sun are from the 'bus, so of course i love them no matter what. ohio represent!!! yeeeeah. oddly enough, i had never seen them before! but they were pretty darn good - and LOUD. really really loud. but i enjoyed their set nonetheless. thank goodness for earplugs.
i have been diggin' the rosebuds for a while now, and their set also did not disappoint. they're really cute onstage - but in a total rock n' roll way. not cute like a bunny. or a kitten. i guess ivan howard (vox/guitars) and kelly crisp (keys) are married and they are adorable - you can tell that they're totally connected onstage and they sort of look over at each other while they're playing & that's just awesome. like i said, cuteness. and they played "kicks in the schoolyard", so i was happy.
the shout out louds were rockin' as well. they have a TON of energy & they were really fun to watch. the lead singer is a spitting image of jason schwartzman circa 1998. (by the way, i just found out that j.schwarz is younger than i am. this makes me sort of depressed. but i still have a nano-crush on him nonetheless.) dude's voice sounds a bit like robert smith if he took some zoloft or effexor. they all looked really young. it is troubling to me to realize that most of the bands that i go see are now my brother's age (19). damn.
random blog ending - ben lee's new single "catch my disease" is really catchy, no pun intended. did you know it was on an episode of grey's anatomy a few weeks ago? i was like "what the? that's ben lee!" it was weird.

so did you see "shop girl" yet? j.schwartzman is in it and looking crushable. tho, he's a little short for me.
i haven't seen shop girl - yet. i really want to though. the fact that they use "the sound of settling" in the commercial makes me want to see it even more. damn marketing.
plus, i love claire danes (even though she stole billy crudup from the awesome mary-louise parker) and of course, j. schwartman. and steve martin is god.
schwartzman is shorter than i'd normally crush on, but he's funny and weird. that makes it okay. :)
i can't wait to see shop girl either! and yes, i love it when gray's anatomy has good songs! which they do, quite often. one of their first episodes had a tegan & sara song & i was stoked.
