i am currently obsessed with stars - set yourself on fire.
i know this album has been out for a while, but sometimes certain songs or albums just mean more to you at certain times in your life. like, you've listened to the songs a hundred times, but never noticed the lyrics and how much they may or may not apply to your current life situation...
today i was talking to ryan about how i have listened to "one more night (your ex-lover remains dead)" about 37 times in the last three days and that i love it because the music is upbeat and gentle but the lyrics are pretty dark ("he starts with her back, 'cause that's what he sees/when she's breaking his heart, she still fucks like a tease"..."so good when it ends/they'll never be friends/one more night, that's all they can spend"). ryan said "is that because you seem upbeat and gentle, but are really dark?"
yes.
isn't it amazing how music can allow you to feel things that you probably don't want to feel and make you okay with that? it's like your friend who is like "i TOTALLY know how you feel right now - and no, you are not crazy." except it's a total stranger who has no idea who you are - it's the human condition i suppose. we are all having the same experiences simultaneously. we are all crazy. we are all awesome. right?

You're so right about certain albums ringing true at certain times. I had a "Stars" moment about two weeks ago, and "One More Night" (along with "The Big Fight") were in constant play.
And, yes. We are all awesome.
