all dulli, all the time?
i must be in a greg dulli phase or something because lately i cannot get enough of the new twilight singers album, powder burns, and his solo album that came out last year...

i missed from what i've heard from several trusted sources (including buzz & hez) was an awesome twilight singers show while i was in new york two weeks ago...dammit! i've never seen the dulli in person, but i do have a random ticket stub from an afghan whigs show at bogart's in cincinnati that was tucked inside the booklet in a used copy of black love that i got a few years ago at used kids in columbus. wow, there were alot of ohio references in that last sentence! represent!!!
anyway, back to dulli. so one morning when we were getting ready to go to comfest, zach put on amber headlights, which i was completely unaware even existed - and i have totally fallen in love with it. i bought it as soon as i got back home & i cannot stop listening to it! it's like somewhere in between the afghan whigs and what dulli is currently doing with the twilight singers. (which would make sense because it was actually recorded in 2001 & 2002, after the ultimate demise of the whigs and before blackberry belle, but wasn't released until last year because dulli shelved it after the death of his good friend (an awesome director) ted demme. hi, i am full of the knowledge.) it's not a masterpiece by any stretch, but dulli-obsessives like myself will surely dig it. uh huh.
i'm not sure why i've gone into full dulli mode as of late, maybe it has something to do with the fact that i'm feeling uber-frustrated with relationships situations right now and he's so surly that the mood of the songs is matching my moodiness and borderline bitterness. but on the other hand, he writes such sexy songs that it just makes me more frustrated! heh. i guess i really do like to torture myself with difficult men, even in my choice of music. haha.
