i've got my hands full...I'VE GOT MY HANDS FULL!!!
oh my god i love the walkmen.
there are two things that made me happy last night when they took the stage at the music hall -
1) hamilton was not chewing gum (coachella)
2) hamilton was not wearing a suit (hi, coachella again)
i think i might have had a musical-religious experience at this show last night (i.e. my morning jacket @ the fillmore last fall). i had a full-on buzz - not from the beers i was imbibing - but from the awesometacular, rawktacadillydastical music that was coming from the stage. hi, the walkmen are f#@*king awesome. do not try to argue with me.
something about the set made me hyper-creative, and i started thinking all these really crazy thoughts and kept getting what i thought were really great ideas at the time and i was feverishly writing them down between and during songs and i'm sure i looked like a nerd with my pen and my paper and my beer cup between my teeth, but hot damn if those moments don't come across once in a blue moon - you gotta seize opportunities like that yo!
this morning i pulled some of the notes out of my purse and they said things like "top 10 non-guitar intros in music..."jump" - van halen, "we've been had" - the walkmen" and "why isn't this crowd more into the music? what is wrong with them?!?" and "john vanderslice = non-sexual rock star crush; hamilton leithauser = totally sexual rock star crush" and "i loves me some horns in my indie rock" - hahahaha - what a moron, am i. dorkus.
OUR* boyfriend hamilton looked hoTTT - and i'm serious about my love for him. normally i wouldn't actually, legitimately swoon over a musician, i just like pretending they are my imaginary boyfriends for kicks and funnies. but he is just so freakin' hot - and not just looks-wise. he has what seems like a good amount of charisma and swagger. mmmm, swagger. he seems like he'd be kind of an a-hole. and we all know how i like the a-holes. hahaha.
okay, i'll stop drooling over him now.

openers mazarin, from philly, and simon dawes, from LA, were pretty good too. some of my peeps commented on how mazarin can sound a bit redundant and ventures off into the dangerous jam band zone at times, but i thought they were solid. one of their songs ("another one goes by") sounded really familiar to me and then during the walkmen's set, they played it too and i realized that they covered it on a hundred miles off. a-ha!
fun fact: simon dawes (which is not the name of any of the dudes in the band) are all like 17/18/19 years old! wow.
__________
during the show willo got a text message from buzz informing us that THE e.benson was in town "for one night only" and that they were at hotel utah - we texted him back and told them to head to the hemlock and that we'd meet up with them after the show.
when we got to the hemlock, not only were buzz & erik there, but jess, kristin, michael, meera, and a bunch of other peeps!!! (including mazarin - haha - but we didn't hang with them) hi, party! i'd had the magical three beers, so i thought to my semi-drunkle self, how often do i get to hang with e.benson? NEVER. so we made a night of it. w00t w00t!
willo decided that she needed to crash at my place and erik needed a place to stay (since he was staying at a hotey in san jose and that would've been a mightly expensive cab ride home) so we made it a geektastic slumber party! we stopped for donuts on the way home at bob's and ended up partying until 3:00 in the morning...which would explain the three previous "guest" blog posts. heh heh.
oh my gosh, today i am def paying for my fun times last night. and all this on a TUESDAY - since when did people party on a tuesday? i guess since right....now.

haha! rad. we rule! tuesdays rule!
and for the record, we've officially coined the word drunkle. let's watch it take over the nation!
I call my good friend Daniel Spils "drunkle dan" because there was a party with his little toddler cousins and a pinata and we finished off a bottle of woodford reserve before the sun was down (rest assured, the kids didn't drink that much... they stuck to beer). I'm all for bringing the word drunkle into the oed!
I had so much fun in SF and it's all because of you guys. Thanks for everything!
