"duo of spunk & energy."

i apologize for the tardiness of this post...i've been mucho distracted by work & other things i will not elaborate upon at this moment. *wink*

so two weekends ago, willo & i hit the like/giant drag/big city rock show at du nord. we got there just in time to catch the last bit of big city rock's set - and the promise of "bon jovian" (ha, i just made that up!) rock n' rollingness was indeed fulfilled. hello, they even had a curly-haired keyboardist. uh huh, yeah. the singer looked kind of like courtney taylor-taylor but with the onstage presence of brandon flowers (aka dorky & self-obsessed). he had nice lips though. BUT, he was wearing a red BANDANA tied around his neck. really dude? a bandana? are you sure about that?!? i wish i had a photo of the ridonkulousness of it all.

giant drag was awesome - annie & micah both wore reindeer headbands that they purchased at the walgreens across the street and that still had the tags on them. ahh, awesome. annie hardy is an awesome little lady. she sounds like an 8 year old, but swears like a sailor. it's really the weirdest/most interesting spectacle to behold - she was talking about how she needed potato chips for their grease to coat her throat b/c it hurt (???), and then segued into some rant about 80 year old grandmas needing lube...and that's about as far as i'm going to go with that. ewwww. anyway, their performance was splendid indeed - however, they failed to play "slayer" and that made me sad. they did do a wicked cover of chris isaak's "wicked game" (no pun intended). ah, good times.

i have been addicted to the like's are you thinking what i'm thinking? for the past few weeks - i am in love with z berg's voice. it's all raspy & sweet & bjork/the sundays-esque. she rocks. tennessee thomas was kick ass on the drums too - she was like a little ball of energy all wailing away & was so much fun to watch! wheeee. they played pretty much every track off of the album & it sounded great - sometimes i worry that i won't like a band live after i fall in love with the album, but this was not the case w/ the like. i even went so far as to buy a tee shirt - which i never do. what can i say, i'm smitten.
