updates schmupdates.
last wednesday i raced from work to catch my boyeeez hijack the disco at mezzanine - they were playing w/ sabrosa purr & the otherside, both of which i missed b/c my stupid stupid work made me stay until 11:00 pm. booooooo. i'm sure they were swell though...
ted dj'd and as soon as i got to the venue i heard him spinning "kissing families" (silversun pickups) much to my delight!!! yay. i've been listening to that song non-stop for the past week. it's quite addictive, as willo can also atest.
misty was already inside & i also ran into zach, from my other favorite SF band, birdmonster!!! wheee. willo showed up just in time to catch hijack's set - and the boys were freakin' fantastical. i swear, they sound better & better every time i see them. i guess that's the point though. whatevs, they ROCK! the best part of the whole night was when dave said they were going to play "whistle while you work" and misty, willo, and i all "whooo hoooooo'd" in unison as loud as we could. tee hee. because that's our (well, at least MY) favorite song. ha, we are such tools.

hijack the disco!!!
we also got to meet the third mahony brother, dave, who told me a hilarious story about some 11 year old teaching him how to do the bookeeping at one of his temp jobs in LA. fun. and as willo has stated before, i would like to personally thank mr. & mrs. mahony for birthing & rearing such wonderful, funny, smart, and CUTE boys. wow.

dave & taylor! (mike was missing) *note matching sweaters!
..........
thursday night my whole office building had a holiday party - which was really cool b/c i got to meet (sort of) some of the other people that work in the building AND i got to drink beer & eat mac n' cheese for free. score! willo, e.case, and dave & trevor all came by too - let me just say that i have awesome friends.
i also had two "celebrity" sightings:
1) krist novoselic
2) irene from the real world seattle
krist handed me the tap to the keg and i was like "thanks dude". i didn't realize it was him until about an hour later & was like "shit! i'm such an iiiidiot!" (in my head, that is) - hello, one-third of the most influential band of the 90's and argueably the 20th century!
i passed irene on the stairs and was like (also to myself) "i think i know that girl - where do i know her from? a show? the grocery store? hmmmm - oh wait, i don't know her at all - she was on TV!" again, i am a tool.
after the par-tay, willo & i hit the wrens show and met up w/ ted & misty & jem & becca & joel & chris AND i ran into a girl that i rowed with in high school in marietta, ohio pop. 14,000! no joke! sara bir was a senior when i was a freshman & i probably haven't seen her in about 11 years - but she looks exactly the same! and she's married to one of the dudes in the rum diary - small indie rock world. so anyway, not only was it totally hilarious & awesomely weird to run in to sara, but the wrens freakin' blew me away. man, oh man.

show ho shot
some funny lines from the night (as recorded by me, in the middle of the show, on the back of my ticket, b/c i didn't want to forget to blog about them, because i'm a dork like that):
"the eskimo is craaaazy!"
"more parka!"
"guitars on ice!"
"every inch counts, ali. every inch counts."
these are not so funny out of context. hmmmm.
..........
saturday night willo & i hit dan & sarah's loft cooling party and then planned on making a quick stop at glenn otis brown's party...a quick stop that turned into four more hours of partying!!! whoa. let's just say the night ended with a dance party to the tune of prince's "let's go crazy" on white shag carpeting at 4 in the morning. yeah.

willo, dan, & i @ the loft cooling partaay!

uhhh, me dancing.
