might as well face it...i'm addicted to shows.

oh, how i love witty robert palmer-inspired puns! jesus h. christ, i'm an idiot.

so, my little bro was here three weeks ago, for a week of fabulous adventures in the big city. now this kid has never been west of indianapolis, indiana (& has never seen a tranny prostitute either, i think), so SF was definitely a change of pace from marietta, ohio, pop. 14,000.

i think he had a good time & it was great to have a family member out to visit - my first one! yay! i couldn't take him out and get him properly liquored up b/c the kid is only 19 & sans fake ID (wow, he IS my brother - can't break the rules!)...but i did drag him along with me to willo's crazy taco & margarita party two weekends ago!

willo's party was off the hizzy fo' shizzy - you can read more about it on her blog & see her photos from the night's adventures as well....

that sunday night leslie, willo, & i met up w/ the usual suspects (ted, misty) for our boys hijack the disco's show w/ hard-fi at cafe du nord. my first show at du nord! whoo hoooooo! hijack the disco rocked my world & it was so great to finally see them play! hard-fi was freakin' ridonkulous as well - they're album isn't out in the states yet but i'm expecting big things from them when it is...

oh! and i had a total show ho moment when, upon insistance from misty, i flagged down richard (singer from hard-fi) for a photo w/ misty & myself - check it! we invited the lads to lucky 13 for a pint, and they did eventually show up but pretty much snubbed us for some groupies! bastards!

hmmm, let's see. on that wednesday, i met willo & mat at bottom of the hill for mary timony/scissors for lefty and OMG - i am now in love w/ scissors for lefty! i have a gigantic music crush them - they were so good! and w & i were so psyched to find out that they're from SF!!! whoo hoo! we're going to show-stalk them from now on...

mary timony was awesome as well - it was just she & her drummer and she totally rocked out. i wasn't sure what to except with regard to the 'heaviness' of the show, but she was RAWK, i tell ya'. so glad to finally get a chance to see her! check out w's photos from the night...

on the following saturday, willo & i went to see the heavenly states at the independent (thanks to dan for getting us on the "VIP" list! free tickets! super cool armbands! illegal narcotics! uh, wait, just kidding about that last one!) w/ built like alaska, rum diary, and david dondero. we actually missed rum diary, but got to check out the other bands which were pretty good. built like alaska sounds eerily similar to grandaddy - but that's a'ight with me!

trevor, mike, and dave (the hijack boys) were all there as well, and we ran into zach & david from birdmonster (a band that i've also been keen on checking out) and willo's friend daz from playing in fog (which i might start writing for!). it was the first time i'd seen the heavenly states and they were fantastic - lots of energy!!! and awesome blue shirt/white ties combo action!

last wednesday w, trevor, & i went to see kissing tigers/koufax/ limbeck at BoTH. we ran into willo's random NYC friend eric and even had a mini-party after the show! and i got to partake of my very first 'creamy delish' tasty beverage - mmmmmm! kissing tigers were fab, and i pleasantly surprised by koufax and limbeck. koufax did a fantastically obscure cover of joe jackson's "steppin' out" - to which w, trevor, eric, & i knew all the words (which in turn made us feel even older than the heavily-19-yr-old-populated crowd)!!! god bless joe jackson.

last night i went to the david gray show at the fillmore w/ darius, but i'll post more about that later - remind me to elaborate on wanting to shoot myself in the eye (NOT b/c of the music, btw!).

i have a headache & all this typing is making me cranky. i think i need to go to bed now! i'm such an old lady. bah!

Milk just doesn't keep in the car, on a HOT peninsula summer day, dude! I couldn't very well buy milk in the PaloAlto, drive up 2 hours of traffic in summer weather, stick it in the fridge and hope for the best. What would that say about me as a person? Really?!

Ok, fine, you have a point. I totally could have bought a carton while making my way back into the city. Dammit.

And...we're out of milk again.
